Bold Predictions for the Philadelphia 76ers in 2024-25
Each offseason, the Philadelphia 76ers retool their roster with players that they hope will help them win an NBA championship. While a team's success is based on what they do in the post-season, Sixers fans welcome every new season with high expectations. Even with those expectations, there are a handful of predictions that many would consider to be bold.
Paul George Will Make the NBA All-Star Roster
Fans may not consider Paul George making an NBA All-Star roster to be a bold prediction, but he has missed the nod two of the last five seasons. This year, he will be the third scoring option on his team. Those two pieces of context have some people speculating that he may get snubbed in 2024-25.
Something that may help George get voted into the All-Star Game is the amount of games he may play as the Sixers' second scoring option. Joel Embiid has already announced that he will not play back-to-back games; he is also on the north-side of 30-years-old. Those two factors may lead to Embiid taking more rest days in the regular season, which in turn would create more scoring opportunities for George. When this happens, George will post the necessary statistics to earn the annual accolade.
The 76ers Will Finish As a Top Four Seed
Despite a 1-4 start to the new season, the 76ers still boast one of the best teams on paper in the NBA. It can be inferred that when Paul George and Joel Embiid start playing consistently, the Sixers will start winning more games.
The Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers look to be the only teams in the Eastern Conference that are head and shoulders above the rest. With the season still young, the Sixers have plenty of time to catch up to the rest of the teams in the standings. After the next Sixers’ next 77 regular season games, they will be amongst the top four teams in the Eastern Conference.
Kyle Kuzma Will Join the 76ers
Daryl Morey usually likes to be involved at the NBA trade deadline. The 76ers’ needs will be more evident once they are fully healthy, but it is already clear that they miss Nicolas Batum’s size at the forward position. Kyle Kuzma offers that size.
The Washington Wizards have not been contenders for quite some time, and they are not expected to contend in 2024-25. They will likely be sellers at the trade deadline; that means Kuzma will likely be available. The 76ers would make for a good fit, and they could probably package some of their bench pieces and draft capital to bring him 140 miles north.
